Editor’s Notes

Well the summer is over with and now we can prepare ourselves for the upcoming holidays that will arrive within a few months. I hope that everyone survived the hot summer months and it seem that we might be able to miss any major storms. Of course we still have about 1-2 months left but lets keep our fingers cross that nothing will be happen.

I hope everyone that had an opportunity to attend the 48th BRNA Convention enjoyed themselves and were able to purchase the coin(s) that was on their list. If you were able to purchase a coin that you have been looking for, just drop me a line and will include that into the Journal. Of course only your first name will be used in the publication.

That was the first BRNA Convention that I have attended in a number of years. The last time that I attended the Convention, I was on the other side of the table as a dealer.  It was really enjoyable and I have not had an opportunity to do that for several years.

As I have mention in the past Journals, I am still looking for collectors and dealers to write some articles that can be used.

The Journal is now on the website. It will contain the same information as the printed copy, but not in the same format. The show calendar and the

list of dealer’s that advertise in the Journal has a separate link. On the website there is a link to the current Journal, after clicking on that it takes you to a Table of Contents that links to the main information that appears in the

Journal. At the present time, I have not set a length of time for the current Journal to be available online.

WANTED: BRNA is looking for any memorabilia for the upcoming 50th Annual BRNA Convention that will be held in 2009.

In this issue Blenda Brush writes about her telephone interview with Purnie E. Moore who celebrated her 100th Birthday on August 25. BRNA presented Purnie an Certificate of Appreciation for her earlier contribution to BRNA.

A “Literary Award” BRNA Silver Round (inscribed on the reverse with name, and year) was presented to Bob, Bill Fivaz, Michael Gonzalez, Richard Jozefiak, Tony Swicer (will be presented at the 2008 FUN show) and Clayton Taylor during the BRNA Convention. This was in appreciation for articles provided for the BRNA Journal.

Richard Jozefiak the adult winner of the ANA summer scholarship  provided an article about the class on U.S. Tokens. In the next issue we will have an article from the YN that attended the ANA summer program.

I have place some of the photos that were taken during the Convention throughout the Journal. Thanks to Greg Dunnam for providing some photos of the BRNA Bourse Area.

This Journal is a little late this issue since I have had a difficult time in trying to decide how to arrange the text, photos and ads to ensure that it does not look too busy with ads.  Thanks to the new dealers that took out ads for the BRNA Journal for a year. If you get a chance they would appreciate your business.

Thanks and everyone have a very safe time and enjoy friends, family and loved ones.
