MOUNTAIN VIEW

Blendell Brush, Secretary

The 48th Annual Blue Ridge Numismatic Association’s Convention is now history.  However, for those who were unable to attend, I’d like to give an overview of the show.

The Bourse Chairman, Bob Hurst did an outstanding job securing 154 dealers and covering 250 tables.  All seemed to be very pleased with the show attendance which was over 1500 for the three day show.  At the end of the show a total of 112 bourse applications had been received for the 2008 show.  If you would like a bourse application for the 29-31 August 2008 show, at the same location, contact Bob Hurst or myself.  Bob secured different types of dealers such as a grading service, supply dealer, currency, coins, jewelry, and miscellaneous, which included a dealer selling Pelican brief cases and the cutest little monkeys that made a sound.

From the viewpoint of the registration desk, Wendell and I would like to give our volunteers Ron and Sharon Blackman a big “THANK YOU”.  Ron also kept busy on the bourse floor talking with the dealers about our website and journal.  Ron is our webmaster and editor of the BRNA Journal.  If you have a computer visit the website at www.brna.org.

Sharon gave us several ideas that we will be implementing for the next show to speed up the process of dealer and public registration. We really appreciated the assistance that Sharon and Ron gave and look forward to them returning next year.

Gayle Pike provided a great Young Numismatist program Saturday with an attendance of approximately 40 or more.  We are always glad to have the young collectors for they are the future of our hobby.

Another valuable asset for a coin show with a magnitude of the BRNA is security.  Again this year Jim, Jackie and the others did an outstanding job.

The BRNA Board and Officers would like to thank the attendees and dealers for a great show and hope to see everyone next year.  Our show date for next year is 29-31 August at the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center in Dalton, GA.  Ya’ll Come.
