CHARLOTTE & CLAUDE TOLLIVER SURVEY

1. When and how did (Charlotte and Claude) get involved in coin collecting?

As a young man I became very interested in U.S. Coins and later my interest changed to foreign coins and foreign currency. Charlotte’s interest when I met her was Silver Bars, but it did not take her long before she developed an appreciation for foreign coins.   I continue to be involved in coins with EBay and our catalogue/web site. Our daughter has been so helpful with the technological aspect in that she assist me with typing and working with the printing company to ensure everything is as it should be. She also is responsible for our web site. Even though my health has decreased in that I am unable to set-up at coin shows I still have a passion for coins.

2. Were you and Claude married at that time?

No, we were not married until the late 70s, but Charlotte became very interested in foreign coins after we married. Also in assisting me at coin shows.  She was chosen  the most out going personality at the Michigan Show.  This made an excellent match as I could buy at a coin show and she was able to sell coins at our table.

3. What event in the tenure of coin collecting or coin shows do you have the best memories?

We have three favorite coin shows.  They are the Chattanooga Show, Dalton & The Fun show.  JBRC have been very supportive with letting us share a table at many of the coin shows.  Steve, Jerry’s son was always so helpful with helping Charlotte unload our coins prior to a coin show and load our coins after a coin show.

4. What is your favorite coin or coins and did you every purchase one and when?

I would say a German coin which I sold and received a great price.  The coin was worth far more, but I believe in passing on a good find.  I purchased the coin in FL.  I also have had wonderful turn over with U.S. Silver Dollars back when Silver was at its peak.

5. If you were to give advice to the Young Collectors – what would the advice be?

I would suggest patients, and not to give up in their search for a specific coin.  Also, listen to adult coin dealer when they give must needed advice.

6. What were some of the clubs that you were associated with?

ANA, TNA, BRNA (LIFE MEMBER), MSNS, & FUN.

7. Have you ever written any articles for coin publications?  If so, we would like a copy to publish.

No, unfortunately I have not.

8.Other ideas that you would like to mention?

None that comes to mind.

9. Do you have any recommendations for changes in the TSNS or BRNA shows for the dealers?

We have always had favorable experiences.
