  The Blue Ridge Numismatic Association is a Regional Coin Club that has a goal of looking forward and working toward the future in numismatic.  The Officers and Board of Directors of BRNA are dedicated to educating, encouraging and promoting interest in numismatics and are continually looking for ways that they can help to make BRNA the finest numismatic organization in the world. BRNA holds an annual convention during August at Dalton, GA. BRNA publishes a quarterly journal, that features a president's message, articles written by members, a show calendar and advertisements from member dealers.

PRESS RELEASE

The fifth speaker in the Maryland State Numismatic Association (MSNA) annual Distinguished Lecturer Series will be Karen Lee, a numismatic researcher and curator.  Karen is an associate curator with the National Numismatic Collection at the Smithsonian Institution.  Karen holds a BS degree in chemistry and biology and an advanced degree in museum studies.

Among her many numismatic activities, Karen teaches a graduate course Exhibit Planning and Evaluation in India to masters' degree candidates in the public communication of science.  She is an occasional guest contributor to Coin World, and has published a number of articles on visitor behavior in museums.  She created the Smithsonian traveling coin program in which a display is brought to various museums.  Karen escorted a 1933 double eagle to seven different countries for display. She has planned numerous exhibits.  She is now involved in planning a new numismatic gallery, slated to open in 2014 at the National Museum of American History of the Smithsonian Institution.

Karen has a book out (published by Whitman) The Private Sketchbook of George T. Morgan, America's Silver Dollar Artist.  Her talk is taken from the book and is titled The Private Sketchbook of George T. MorganIt will be presented on Friday, June 21 at 2 PM in room 330 of the Baltimore Convention Center during the Whitman Coin Expo.
